KMSC gives back to the community through sponsorships, charitable donations, and volunteer contributions. This community series of blog posts highlights some of our lawyers’ pro bono contributions to local organizations. We continue with KMSC Partner Jason Forbes, a former trustee and interim chair of the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation.
KMSC’s Roots in the Peace Country
KMSC Law LLP has a deep history in the Peace Country, going back almost 100 years. Over that time, lawyers from our firm have been instrumental in establishing and running many not-for-profit organizations in the region. Grande Prairie’s hospital foundation is one of the organizations that our firm has been a part of from its inception. I was very honoured when I was asked, by one of the more senior partners in our firm, to consider sitting on the Foundation as a board member, which I did for several years.
The Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation, formerly the QEII Hospital Foundation, has been instrumental in bringing top quality medical care to our community and surrounding regions. From the fundraising to establish a neo-natal care unit, to purchasing an MRI, to now fundraising for capital equipment for our brand new hospital, the Foundation has provided an opportunity for the local community to boost our local medical facilities to the next level.
Community and Family
Like in any community, the hospital has played a very important role in my family. All three of my children were born there and we have used their emergency services on more than one occasion. We are very fortunate to have the level of care here that we do.
